2008 Conference - Disruption: Changes in the
Media Economy
The
theme for the 2008 >play conference was Disruption: Changes in
the
Media Economy. The past few years have seen dramatic changes in the
ways that people create, distribute, consume, share, and monetize
digital media. The conference explored how even the most disruptive
technology moves us forward in an exciting direction.
Twitter co-founder Biz Stone started the conference with his keynote,
followed by Microsoft Corporate VP Shane Kim speaking about Microsoft’s
gaming business in the afternoon. Other topics covered in panels
included “Brands that Break Through,” “Sports Marketing,” “Creativity,”
and “Mobile Gaming.”
2007 Conference - Current and Emerging
Intersections
With
the theme of Current and Emerging Intersections, >play explored
how
technologies and ideas came together from disparate fields and
functions and created whole new business models. These intersections
truly changed the face of digital media and entertainment.
Speakers included Paul Campell, Founder of HP’s gaming business and
John Riccitiello, the CEO of Electronic Arts. Panel topics ranged from
“Beyond Mobile,” to “Not Politics as Usual,” and “Entrepreneurial
Perspectives” to “Digital Music.”
